What is Ecommerce?

Ecommerce is buying and selling goods or services over the internet, including the payment, order and delivery processes that surround the transaction.
The term covers everything from a marketplace listing to a brand running its own storefront, and increasingly includes social commerce — selling that begins on Instagram, WhatsApp or another social platform.
In India, ecommerce is overwhelmingly mobile and heavily influenced by two local realities: UPI as the dominant payment rail, and cash on delivery as a persistent customer expectation, particularly outside metros.
