SaaS (software as a service) is software delivered over the internet on a subscription, with the provider handling hosting, updates and maintenance.
For a seller the appeal is that there is nothing to install, host or patch — the store is available immediately and improvements arrive without action.
The trade-off is less control than self-hosted software. Data portability is the question worth asking before committing: how you would export products, orders and customers if you left.
